Twenty two players for today's Seniors Bogey competition in much milder conditions than of late. Even some sunshine for part of the round!!
As usual, the scoring was very close and the top three places had to be settled on count-back after all three finished at level with the course. Allan Trotman was the winner followed by Derrick Perrin and John Clark. Sam Whiting finished in fourth place with -1. Full result - click here.

AGM
The 20th Annual General Meeting of Newbury
Racecourse Golf Club will be held at Newbury & Crookham clubhouse this
coming Wednesday 25th February 2015 at 7:00pm. There will be reports
from current members of the committee plus the announcement/election (if
necessary) of members of the committee for the forthcoming year. There will also be an opportunity to raise any queries or
concerns regarding the club at the end of the meeting.
Astres Foursomes
A frosty start for the 10 teams in the Astres Foursomes Stableford today at the racecourse. But at least everyone just about finished before the rain started this afternoon!
The scoring was very tight with the top 4 places separated by just 1 point. The winning team on 33pts were John Butcher & Sian Soanes who just pipped Jason Allum & Stuart Briginshaw on count-back. Third place went to Steve Simm & Rowland Barnfield who just beat Dean Butler & Allan Trotman also on count-back. Full result - click here.
This is the second competition of the year counting towards the individual Order of Merit. John Butcher (12pts) is the early leader with victories in the first two competitions. Stuart Briginshaw and Dean Butler hold second and third spots on 9pts each. Full listing - click here.

Senior Captain's Day
Today's event for the seniors was Seniors Captain's Day organised by our esteemed outgoing seniors captain John Day. I think I speak for all the seniors at the club in saying that John has done a superb job as captain in organising all the year's competitions, matches and events and representing the seniors at committee meetings, etc. After the golf today, we were treated to a buffet lunch courtesy of John. Thank-you and well done John!!
The competition (courtesy of Mr Perrin) was an interesting variation of a 1-2-3 team Stableford with one score in the team counting on par 5's two on par 4's and all three on par 3's. Eight teams took part.
The winning team with an excellent score of 79pts were Les Eden, Geoff Denner & Mike Workman. Runners-up with 74pts were Allan Trotman, Derrick Perrin & Gordon Turner followed by Richard Hook, Sandy Deacon & Steve Thompson just one point behind.

Seniors February Medal
Another chilly day at the racecourse today for the seniors February medal, although some respite from the recent windy conditions. Today's event was a Stableford competition played in two mixed divisions.
In division 1, Derrick Perrin was the winner narrowly beating Geoff Denner by a single point. Third place went to Sam Whiting. Full result - click here.
The division 2 winner was decided on count-back with Mike Miller just edging out Brian Grace after both scored 34pts. Third place went to Mike Workman who pipped Harry Jackson also on count-back. Full result - click here.
Yet again, no two's were returned today, so another roll over of the two's pool into next month.

Presentation Evening
The annual NRGC Presentation Evening was held last night at Newbury & Crookham clubhouse to present all the trophies won during the 2014 season. A slightly smaller event than normal but nevertheless an very good evening.
An excellent meal was supplied and served by the catering staff at Newbury & Crookham followed by the prize giving. Thanks to the Captains (Dean Butler, Sian Soanes & John Day) and the rest of the committee for organising another great event.

February Medal
A sunny morning at the racecourse for today's February Stableford medal, but very cold with a stiff northerly wind blowing across the course. Fourteen players competed for the prizes today in two mixed divisions.
In division 1, Dean Butler (30pts) just came out on top after beating Derrick Perrin on count-back. Third place went to John Baron on 28pts. Full result - click here.
In division 2, Dave Wallin claimed first prize with a very respectable 33pts. Jason Allum was runner-up two points behind and Ken Kenyon took third place on 29pts. Full result - click here.
Just one 2 to report today scored by Jason Allum on the par 4 16th.
