An excellent turn out today for the seniors at the racecourse. Thirty-six players in twelve teams of 3 played a Bowmaker Strokeplay competition. Marian Taylor Memorial Golf Day

Newbury Racecourse Ladies, past and present, held a 9-hole Stableford competition, followed by lunch, in memory of past Lady Captain, Marian Taylor, who sadly passed away in August.  The sun shone on the ladies as they took to the course; however, it was still playing long due to the deluge it received the day before.  Coming home in first place was past Lady Captain, Sam Whiting, with her score of 17pts.  Another past Lady Captain, Janice Paulin (now DG), took the second slot on count back ahead of Allison Holmes (also now DG), when they both carded 16pts.  Thanks to Sian Soanes for the organisation and to John Taylor for attending the lunch and presenting the prizes.

Seniors November Medal

A really chilly day at the racecourse today for the November Seniors medal. The competition was played as a Stableford with the men off the yellow tees and a separate competition for the ladies. Twenty-four men and five ladies competed for the medals with scoring quite difficult in the cold wind.

In the men's competition, Raymond Bilton was the winner with a score of 34pts. The runner-up was decided on count-back with Paul Tebbutt just edging out John Day and Derrick Perrin after all three players returned 33pts.

Sian Soanes was the winner in the ladies competition with 30pts. Sam Whiting was runner-up just one point further back and Jan Hinks in third place.

Just one 2 was recorded today by Raymond Bilton at the 11th. Unfortunately, Raymond was not in the two's pool so yet again the money will roll over to next month's medal.

In division 1, John Butcher was the winner having amassed an excellent 38pts. The runner-up was decided on count-back with Dean Butler just edging out Jeremy Twaits after both returned 34pts.

Count-back was again required as Roy Whiting just pipped Stuart Briginshaw to win the division 2 medal after both scored 36pts. Third place went to Jason Allum on 32pts.
