Seniors Texas Scramble

Today's get-together for the Seniors was a Texas Scramble. Twelve teams of three competed for the prizes. A dry day which was a bit unexpected after seeing the weather forecast. Also the course was a bit more forgiving following the recent welcome rain.
The winners today with an excellent score of 55.8 were Tommy Lees, Judy Willson & Sandy Deacon. The runners-up spot was decided on count-back with John Day, Barry Heath & Gordon Turner just edging out Brian Faithfull, Derrick Perrin & Richard Cross after both teams carded 57.4

Really great to see Al Drennan back today even if he is not playing yet. Knowing Al ... it won't be too long before he's back out on the course!!

Parker Hart Fourball

Excellent conditions for today's Parker Hart Four ball. Just when you thought the scoring can't possibly get any better .... it does. There were many excellent scores but the winners with a phenomenal effort were Dave & Jill Warwick with a nett 59. Although the course is running well, this is 3/4 handicap with men off the white tees and, as always, you still have to get that little ball in the hole. The unlucky runners-up, still with an excellent score of 63, were Christine Cooper & Fay Unsworth. John Butcher & Sian Soanes won the count-back battle for third place just ahead of Brian & Denise Matthews after both pairings scored 64.

Another counting competition for the Order of Merit. After some excellent results, Christine Cooper has opened up a 5 point lead at the top from John Day. The chasing pack is headed by Sian Soanes.

A fun evening ...

Now that summer has finally arrived, we are having a 9-hole Texas Scramble and BBQ on Thursday 18th July. Three of the team play the front nine and the other three of the team play the back nine, both in Texas Scramble format. Add the scores together, and that gives you the team's overall score. Then head to the clubhouse and enjoy a burger!

There is a sign-up sheet on the notice board in the clubhouse. If you need help finding a team or finding players to finalise your team, contact Jeremy Twaits (jeremy.twaits@nrgc.co.uk or 07956 095539). Alternatively, add your name to an empty slot on the sheet to join an existing team or wait for others to join you.

Entry fee is £6 per person which includes the BBQ afterwards.

Name the Numpty!!

Can you identify the person in the spider-man outfit in this Sky Sports clip reporting from down-under on the Lions Tour??

9-Hole Qualifier

Too hot to play 18 holes? ... Don't have time for 18 holes? ... Fancy playing 9 holes in the evening? ... Need to play a qualifier to keep your handicap active?

Why not consider playing the 9-Hole Stableford Qualifier??

We have one of these competitions every month and the next one is on Tuesday 9th July. It is free to enter - just register on the sheet in the pro-shop before you play and pick up your special yellow card. No set time to play, just ensure your card is marked by another member.
Men off yellow tees, ladies off red tees.
There is a slight handicap adjustment due to the shortened course and there is a sheet on the notice board which will give you the adjustment for your handicap. Don't worry if you forget (!), we have a clever little computer which will do it for you when the cards are processed. Don't forget to put your card in the box when you finish your round. Enjoy your golf!!
